This delicious set heather honey is from bees that live and forage in Ringwood on the outskirts of the New Forest. In our opinion, heather honey is the king of all honeys and we're so proud that our bees make one of the finest honeys you will ever get to taste in the UK. This honey is such high quality that it has, in fact, won first prize in the New Forest Beekeepers' honey show (2019), and we have high hopes that this year's crop will place highly in the awards.

Heather honey is very special. It's thixotropic, meaning it's gel-like. It's also completely pure and natural with only a minimum of filtering to keep in all the goodness. This honey is so thick it can't be extracted and has to be pressed from the comb, which is a very labour intensive process.

If you could close your eyes and taste the New Forest on a lazy, late summer's day, this would be it! To make this honey, the bees foraged on Ling Heather which covers New Forest heathland from August to September. We're extremely fortunate that our bees can reach the purple-clad hills of the New Forest from the Ringwood apiary.

Ringwood honey is always a special honey and with only a few beekeepers producing honey here, it's very rare too. This, coupled with the fact that the heather honey harvest is always unpredictable, means that this year's crop is likely to be in high demand.

Taste, texture and appearance

This year's Ringwood heather honey is set and gel-like - it's thixotropic and very sweet with a uniquely rich flavour. Since this honey is set, it also has small bubbles in it which attest to it's high quality. Being a natural product, the colour does vary from deep amber to rich gold.

Each jar holds 45g.

Why do we call it natural raw honey?

Our honey has nothing added and nothing taken away. There's no added sugar or water, just 100% pure honey.

The goodness is preserved because it's not been pasteurised, and it's not microfiltered either, so pollen grains are present which may make it more beneficial for you.
